Louise E. Ness

DOVER – Louise Elizabeth Ness, 95, entered into rest at 1:38 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.  She was the wife of the late Ray A. Ness.

Born June 27, 1929 in York, Louise was a daughter of the late Albert C. and Ruth N. (Royer) Peterson.

She graduated with honors from William Penn High School in 1947 and worked as a corporate secretary for 60 years for Buchart Horn, Inc. in York and Pace Resources in York.

Louise was a member of the Viking Athletic Association and Quota Club International Inc. in York.  She voted at the age of 18.

Louise was a lifelong member of Mount Royal U.M. Church where she was the oldest living member.  She was previously in Ladies Aid and had been an adult choir director, Sunday School teacher, superintendent of the Children’s Department and secretary of the Administrative Board of the church.

She is survived by her three daughters, Carolyn and her husband, William Burrell of Dover, Christine and her husband, Thomas Orris of York, and Cheryl and her husband, Carl Stone of Manchester; four grandchildren, Shanna Coe Johnson, Michael Burrell, Erin Bender and Whitney Sheffer; and nine great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rev. Roger B. Coe and sister, Sadie Peterson.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Louise’s funeral at 11:30 a.m. and the viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery, Dover.  Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Angela Nett.
