Marcella J. Cooper
DOVER – Marcella J. Cooper, 85, entered into rest Wednesday evening, January 29, 2025 at her home. She was the wife of the late Elwood W. “Bill” Cooper, Jr., who died in 2010. The couple shared almost 50 years of marriage.
Born December 23, 1939 in Huntingdon, Marcella was a daughter of the late Harold F. and Hazel L. (Reed) Headings.
She had 40 years of service for York Hospital where she was a medical technologist. Marcella was a member of T.O.P.S. which met every month and enjoyed meeting with her high school friends for lunch twice a month. She also enjoyed flower gardening, playing games on her cell phone and loved spoiling her dog and granddogs.
Marcella is survived by two daughters, Michele L. Cooper and husband, Mark Lee of Dover and Natalie J. Hasenfuss and husband, Marty of York; a son, Elwood W. “Corky” Cooper III and wife, Stacey of Leland, NC; five granddaughters: Jessica Spencer and husband, Jacob, Erin Madison and husband, Brandon, Sarah Hasenfuss, Alicia Hasenfuss and Megan Heltebridle; and a brother, Donald L. Headings of York.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Marcella’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens in Dover. Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier, pastor of Christ U.C.C. in Jefferson.
