Margaret M. Ruvolis
YORK – Margaret Mary Griggs Ruvolis, age 97, passed away December 30, 2021 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Sprenkle Drive.
She was born in Payette, Idaho (God’s country, as she often said) on March 30, 1924 to William and Elva Davis Griggs. Margaret met and married her “flyboy” husband, Leo in March 1944 and had been married 72 years at the time of his passing. This picture of Margaret was carried by Leo while he served in the USAAC during WWII, including several months spent in a German POW camp and so has special meaning to her family.
Margaret retired from the Bon-Ton but spent many years as a stay at home mom. She and Leo enjoyed traveling in their motor home to every state except Alaska and Hawaii.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl and husband, Mike O’Brien, Dover, PA; granddaughter, Amber Toomey and her two children, Jovan and Johara, York; grandson, Clarence “Tikki” Driver and family, Houston, TX; a nephew, James Griggs and family of Salem, Oregon; and son-in-law, Roger Knisely, York.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Leo, twin daughters, Katherine Ruvolis and Kathleen Knisely, two brothers and a sister.
Special thank yous to her SpiriTrust Lutheran “family”. Also, to her two dearest friends, Betty Campbell and Nancy Laird. Among family friends who stayed in touch with Margaret by phone, cards, flowers, visits and treats are “the other” Cheryl, Lana and Joanne. You helped brighten her days.
Services will be private. Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., is serving her family.
Memorial contributions may be made to SpiriTrust Lutheran, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, York, PA 17404.
