Mark W. Hamberger
DOVER – Mark W. Hamberger, 69, was called home to Heaven on Friday evening, May 15, 2026 at his home, surrounded by family and friends. He was the loving husband of Susan M. (Lee) Hamberger. The couple celebrated 20 years of marriage on December 20, 2025.
Born August 23, 1956 in York, Mark was the son of the late Bradley P. and Shirley (Snyder) Hamberger.
Mark had 28 years of service as a painter for Harley Davidson, retiring in 2016. He then worked almost eight years as a custodian for Dover Area School District.
Mark was a member of the Prince Athletic Association and Shiloh American Legion Post 791. He enjoyed his beer, crossword puzzles and watching “MASH”, “The Andy Griffith Show” and “The Three Stooges”. Mark was a fan of baseball, especially the Baltimore Orioles. He enjoyed the simple things in life, like sitting on his front porch at the “Do Nothing Ranch” and watching the deer. Carrots were his “favorite” vegetable.
In addition to his wife, Mark is survived by a son, David A. Hamberger of Dover; three granddaughters, Alyssa, Kaci and Sarah; four great grandchildren, Colson, Harrison, Miles, Levi and a great granddaughter on the way; a brother, Michael of Dillsburg; a sister, Deborah of Columbia; and his beloved Golden Retriever, Maverick. He was preceded in death by his parents and Max, his first Golden Retriever, as well as many other pets who were there to greet him at the Bridge.
Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mark’s memorial service at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. There will be a time of visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier, pastor of Christ U.C.C. in Jefferson.
