RED LION, PA – MaryEllen Poierier, 73, entered into rest on May 12, 2020 at Wellspan York Hospital, York, PA.  She was the wife of the late Daniel Poierier, Sr.

Born August 25, 1946 in Chicago, IL, MaryEllen was the daughter of the late Casimer and Helen (Kossakowski) Komperda.

She loved collecting all types of bears. She enjoyed drawing and watching her favorite television show, Blue Bloods.  In her younger days, her favorite pastimes were sewing, bowling and playing BINGO.  On your birthday, you were sure to get a card from her filled with stickers and confetti.

MaryEllen is survived by a daughter, Dawn Mary Komperda of Dover, PA; two sons, Darren Poierier of Merrillville, IN and Daniel Poierier, Jr. of Streamwood, IL; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Julie Zak of Texas; and three brothers, Richard Komperda of Illinois, James Komperda and William Komperda of Florida.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Komperda and Thomas Komperda.

A memorial service for MaryEllen will be at 2 p.m. on August 22, 2020 at St. Joseph Church, 1747 Lake Ave., Wilmette, Illinois.  She will be interred alongside her brother, Thomas Komperda.
