DOVER – Melvin E. Gracey, Jr., 50, entered into rest at 10:08 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Hershey Medical Center following a brief illness.  He was the loving husband of Danielle M. (Landis) Gracey.  They celebrated 26 years of marriage on August 22, 2024.

Born July 11, 1974 in York, Melvin was a son of the late Melvin E. and Sandra L. (Anderson) Gracey, Sr.

He graduated from York Vo-Tech in 1993 and owned and operated Family Traditions Towing & Custom Exhaust in Dover with his cousin, Barry Anderson.  Melvin previously had 30 years of service for Miles Muffler in York.

He also enjoyed working on cars in his spare time and loved to play with and spoil his grandchildren.  He especially loved taking them for tractor rides.

In addition to his wife, Melvin is survived by his son, Austin P. Gracey and wife, Kirsten and daughter, Melanie A. Gracey, all of Dover; two grandchildren, Lauren Gracey and Maxwell Bowers; brother, Brian L. Gracey of Dover; and sister, Michele A. Smith and husband, Matt of Glen Rock.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Daniel S. Gracey.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Melvin’s funeral at 12 noon on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc. 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  The viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday at the funeral home.  Officiating will be Pastor Carlos Kelly of St. Paul E.C. Church in York.
