Michael L. Decker

DOVER – Michael Lee Decker, 62, entered into rest unexpectedly at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at his home.  He was the loving husband of Stephana J. (Brenneman) Decker.  They were married for 42 years on May 9, 2023.

Born August 2, 1960 in York, Michael was a son of Kathryn M. (Seifert) Decker of Dover and the late Milton M. Decker.

He graduated from Dover High School in 1978.

Michael was the manager of the Dover Branch of E&B Transportation.  He previously worked at Jays Markets; his family's businesses, Decker Meats and Dover Tax Services; as well as Jerry’s Food Rite in Red Lion where he worked in the meat department.

Michael was a member of Grace UCC in Hanover and The Hawk Gunning Club. He was an EMT for White Rose & Dover Area Ambulance Club.  He was also assistant EMA director for Dover Township Fire Company where he was a volunteer fireman in his younger years.  He loved camping, fishing, boating and hunting.

In addition to his wife and mother, Michael is survived by his two daughters, Renee M. Decker and MacKenzie L. Decker, both of Dover; two sisters, Daun Metzler of York and Kay Hiquet of Mifflintown; three brothers, Josh Garrick of Florida, Douglas Decker of Alabama and Brian Decker of Hillsville, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Michael’s funeral at 7 p.m. and the viewing from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Union Fire & Hose Co. #1 – Dover, 30 E. Canal St., Dover.  Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier.  In honor of Michael’s service with E&B Transportation, there will be a bus parade beginning at 5 p.m. across Canal Street in Dover.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
