DOVER – Michelle “Chelle” “Mollie” D. (Crippen) Slagle, 62, entered into rest on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at her home.  She was the loving wife of Gerald L. Slagle, Jr.  The couple celebrated 25 years of marriage on September 15, 2025.

Born May 15, 1963 in Coral Gables, FL, Michelle was a daughter of the late Bernard S. “Bill” Crippen and Lola J. (Cunningham) Smith.  She was a stepdaughter of Fred B. Smith of Dillsburg, PA and Melanie Crippen of Rolesville, NC.  She was predeceased by her brother Daniel Crippen of Plantation, FL.

Michelle attended Southwestern High School and graduated from Dallastown High School in 1981.  She attended York College and earned a paralegal degree.  She worked in cosmetology at Accardo’s in York and in banking at Mellon Bank.  Most recently, she was the office manager for Hampton Construction.

Michelle volunteered at Speranza Animal Rescue in Mechanicsburg.  She was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791 Ladies’ Auxiliary.   She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Cross Forks, PA.  Michelle also enjoyed time with family and friends in Rehoboth Beach, DE.  Michelle will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, and courage in the face of adversity.

In addition to her husband , step-father, and step-mother, Michelle is survived by children, Tyler J. Knaub of York, Jarrod L. Slagle of Dover, and Allyson M. Moyer and husband Matt of Dover; two granddaughters, Morgan B. Moyer and Emerson M. Moyer; a sister, Kimberly  C. Shaw of Nashua, NH; two brothers, Fred B. Smith II of Dillsburg and Bill Crippen of Rolesville, NC; nieces, Sophia Smith,  Katherine and Zinnia Shaw, Hannah Kate and Susannah Lee Crippen; and one nephew, Cohen Smith.

Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a time to celebrate Michelle’s life at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Shiloh American Legion Post 791, 1490 Poplars Rd., York.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
