Patricia A. Whitacre

DOVER – Patricia A. Whitacre, 80, entered into rest Friday morning, January 23, 2026 at her home.  She was the loving wife of Douglas W. Whitacre.  The couple celebrated 33 years of marriage on August 14, 2025.

Born September 16, 1945 in York, she was a daughter of the late George Kurtz and Helen R. (Warner) Hake and step-daughter of the late Earl E. Hake, Sr.

Patricia graduated from Dover Area High School in 1963.  She retired from Raycom Electronics, Inc. in Dover following 37 years of service.  She had been a member of St. Paul’s Red Run UCC, East Berlin.  Patricia enjoyed reading Danielle Steele books and watching soap operas.  She also took pride in keeping a tidy home, both inside and out – everything had its place.

In addition to her husband, Patricia is survived by four children, Douglas Ruppert of Lewisberry, Denise Swope and husband, Jeffrey of Dover, Dean Ruppert of Fairfield and Darlisa Edgecomb of Red Lion; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Kathy McCandless of York; and her beloved cockatiel, Buddy.  She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Johnny Lee Ruppert; sister, Sharon Grunden; and brothers, Larry Hake, Robert Hake and Thomas Kurtz.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Patricia’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Burial will follow in Red Run Cemetery, East Berlin.  Officiating will be Pastor Scott Gladfelter of St. Stephen’s U.C.C. in York.
