Philip E. Keeney
DOVER – Philip E. Keeney, 85, entered into rest at 8:58 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Susquehanna Rehabilitation Health Care Center in Lancaster. He was the husband of the late Janet I. (McCurdy) Keeney.
Born October 18, 1939 in York, Philip was a son of the late Lonnie and Treva (Keeney) Keister.
He retired in 1997 following 28 years of service for Caterpillar where he worked as a materials specialist.
Philip enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia Eagles. He played baseball and was an umpire in his younger years. He was also a fan of Elvis. Philip was a homebody who took pride in taking care of his yard. He always seemed to keep himself busy around the house and even raised homing pigeons at one point.
Philip is survived by four children, Michele Barshinger and her husband, Rick, Teresa Keeney, Lonnie Keeney and Christine Keeney; five grandchildren, Kayla Benedict, Lauren Keeney, Lorrine Watkins, Lynette Keeney and Matthew Levitt; his great granddaughter, with whom he shared a special bond, Aubree “Bebe” Benedict; three step-children; and a sister, Gloria Taughinbaugh. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Philip E. Keeney, Jr. and sister, Joyce McKinsey.
Services for Philip will be private. Burial will take place in Suburban Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier, pastor of Christ U.C.C. in Jefferson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
