Ralph E. Snelbaker

YORK – Ralph Eugene Snelbaker, 96, of York, PA, formerly of York New Salem, PA, passed away, Sunday, May 25, 2025, at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home at The Village of Kelly Drive.  He was the husband of the late Charlotte L. (Kost) Snelbaker who passed away April 15, 2013.

Ralph was born on December 10, 1928, in Conewago Township, York County and was the son of the late Paul E. Snelbaker, Sr. and Lizzie Jane (Miller) Snelbaker.

He was employed as a Glazier for Service Glass Works, Inc. and later Hershocks in Harrisburg, PA.  Following his retirement, Ralph enjoyed his job at SpiriTrust Lutheran Village in York as a transport driver.  He was a member of the White Rose Polka Club, Viking Athletic Association, Yankee Athletic Association, Life member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades, Shiloh American Legion, a Life member of the Spring Grove V.F.W. Post # 5265 and a Life member of the NRA.  He was an avid sportsman, enjoying golfing, bowling, baseball, fishing and hunting.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Ralph is survived by his daughters, B. J. Bean Mathias of York, and Suzanne Caskey and her husband Timothy of York, PA; four grandchildren, Wendy Sue Boutilier, Shawn A. Fishel and his wife Jessie, Cailyn N. Caskey and her husband Johnny Szerdi, and Corey R. Caskey and his wife Magdelini Drivas; three great grandchildren, Josh Fishel, Justin Fishel and his wife Becca, and Lauren Schaumann; five great great grandchildren, Aria Fishel, Oliver Fishel, Hudson Fishel, Mason Fishel, and Colton Fishel, and his sisters, Martha Zirkle, and Helen Storey; numerous nieces and nephews; and entire step family.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Snelbaker, Curvin Snelbaker, Paul E. Snelbaker, Jr., and his sisters, Myrtle Little and Fairy Brenneman.

His funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 6, 2025, at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 47 North Queen Street, Dover, PA.  His viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, Friday at the funeral home.  His burial will be in Warrington Friends Meeting House Cemetery in Wellsville, PA.  Officiating at the service will be Minister Denise Lauer Jaramillo.  The York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide full military honors at the graveside service.
