Ray E. Neiman, Sr. 

YORK – Ray E. Neiman, Sr., 84, entered into rest at 10:48 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York.  He was the loving husband of the late Roberta M. (Dull) Neiman who died on September 15, 2020.  They were married for 61 years. 

Born March 17, 1939 in York, Ray was the son of the late Stewart H. and Ruthanna (Leas) Neiman. 

He graduated from Manchester High School in 1957.  Ray was the owner and operator of Neiman’s Garage where he worked for over 70 years. 

He was a member of Dover Bethany Global Methodist Church in Dover where he served as Sunday School Treasurer and on various other committees.  Ray was one of the longest members of the church, having attended since he was a baby.  He was also a member of the Hawks Club, Garagemen’s Association where he was the current president and a board member, Isaac Walton League, Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association, Dover Old Tyme Days, Pigeon Hill Snowmobile Club and BUMshots Hunting Camp. 

Ray enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling.  One of his greatest joys was watching and supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren as they played sports as well as spending time with them.  He was always happiest when he was fixing or working on something. 

Ray is survived by his three children, Tammy R. Clemens and husband, Mark, and Ray E. “Chopper” Neiman, Jr., all of York and Justine Ann Hughes and husband, Steve of York Haven; seven grandchildren, Travis and Tyler Clemens, Kirstin Maun, Seth Flinchbaugh, Logan Ramsey, Wyatt Hughes and Dakota Neiman; six great grandchildren, Park Clemens, Grady Clemens, Ansley Clemens, Crew Clemens, Cooper Maun, Lincoln Ramsey with two on the way; and companion Gloria Dunker of York. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Flinchbaugh and husband, Robert; great grandson, Jaxon Maun; and two sisters, Jane E. Weaver and Doris F. Crager.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ray’s funeral at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Dover Bethany Global Methodist Church, 4510 Bull Rd., Dover.  There will be visitations from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, both at the church.  Burial will take place in Suburban Memorial Gardens, Dover.  Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Salvatore Buonocore.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
