Ray E. “Butch” Runkle

DOVER – Ray E. “Butch” Runkle, 70, entered into rest Friday night, January 20, 2023 at UPMC Memorial.  He was the loving husband of Joyce L. (Martin) Runkle.  The couple celebrated 52 years of marriage on June 12, 2022.

Born February 8, 1952 in York, Butch was a son of the late Harry J. and Jean E. (Brenneman) Runkle.

He retired from New York Wire in 2017 following 39 years of service.

Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, walking, hiking, spending time in the mountains, going on cruises and playing cards.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

In addition to his wife, Butch is survived by two daughters, Janet L. Keister and husband, Richard of York Haven and Rae A. Runkle and companion, Dale Kauffman of Dover; three grandchildren, Bobbi Keister, Victoria Keister and Christopher Musser and wife, Hailey; two great grandchildren, Abigail and Tristan; three sisters, Lois A. Sims, Diane L. Hollinger and Mary A. Runkle, all of Dover; and three brothers, Samuel C. Runkle and John H. Runkle, both of Dover and Randy R. Runkle of Red Lion.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Terry L. Runkle.

Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.
