Raymond P. Erney
WELLSVILLE – Raymond P. Erney, 94, entered into rest at 9:51 p.m. on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his daughter’s home. He was the husband of the late Joan J. (Jones) Erney. They were married almost 62 years.
Born January 29, 1926 in York, Raymond was a son of the late Paul and Lillian (Snelbaker) Erney.
He graduated from William Penn High School and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.
He retired from Caterpillar where he worked as a millwright.
Raymond was a life member of Union Fire & Hose Co. #1, Dover.
He is survived by two sons, Samuel Paul Erney of Bowmansville and David L. Erney and wife, Gail of Dover; two daughters, Karen J. Decker and husband, Brian of Hillsville, VA and Susan K. Davis and husband, Jim of Wellsville; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Frey of York and Maryellen Devers of Winterstown. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Erney; a granddaughter; and four siblings.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Raymond’s graveside service at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020 in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Rd., York, where veteran’s honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. The procession will form inside the cemetery entrance at 10:45 a.m. Officiating will be Chaplain Don Alspaugh of Memorial White Rose Hospice. Emig Funeral Home, Dover, is serving his family.
