Richard C. Becker
YORK – Richard C. “Dick” Becker, 87, died peacefully at Normandie Ridge Nursing Home on Friday, June 24, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mayetta (Hull) Becker; three sons – David (Robin) Becker in Port St. Lucie, FL, Bruce (Lynda) Becker in Camp Hill, PA and Steven Becker in York, PA; a brother, Donald (Charolyn) Becker; five grandchildren – Melissa, Mark, Justin, Steven and Adam; and two great grandchildren – Timothy and Blake. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Minnie Becker; one sister, Ellen Woodland; and two brothers, Robert Becker and Philip Becker.
The former owner of a Western Auto Associate Store in Manchester, PA, from 1974 to 1987, he also worked at various trucking companies from 1953 through 1974 and served as a bus driver for West York School District with Reliance Motor Coach Co. Dick was also a U.S. Army veteran.
Dick was a life member of Lincolnway Fire Co. and Reliance Co. in York County, a member of Weigelstown Lions Club and he was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Richard’s funeral at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Zion U.M. Church, 1030 Carlisle Rd., York. There will be viewings from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens in Dover where veteran’s honors will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Joshua Rhone.
