Richard E. Crone III
YORK – Richard E. Crone III, 68, entered into rest at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Pappus House.
Born August 4, 1957 in York, he was the son of MaryAlice B. (Rentzel) Green of York and the late Richard E. Crone, Jr.
Richard graduated from Dover High School in 1975 and earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Pennsylvania State University. He retired following 30 years of service from Shipley where he was a credit manager.
Richard was an active member of the Viking Athletic Association, where he was former treasurer, the Prince Athletic Association, South End Democratic Club and numerous other area social clubs. He was a Penn State football fan and season ticket holder. He also enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints and loved jazz music and traveling.
In addition to his mother, Richard is survived by his sister, Sherri L. Crone-Cameron and husband, Jeffrey A. of Leander, TX; step-sister, Melissa A. Donnelly and husband, Bill of Dover; step-brother, C. David Green and wife, Donna of Annandale, NJ; and several aunts, cousins and step-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard E. Crone, Jr. and step-father, David S. Green.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Richard’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie J. Whitter, pastor of Christ UCC in Jefferson.
