Richard W. Nye

DOVER – Richard W. Nye, 77, entered into rest at 11:56 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at his home.  He was the loving husband of Elizabeth B. (Herman) Nye.  The couple celebrated 51 years of marriage on August 5, 2024.

Born February 19, 1947 in York, Richard was a son of the late James G. and Marie L. (Alvarez) Nye.

He graduated from York Suburban High School in 1966 and had over 40 years of service as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service.

Richard was a member of St. David’s E. C. Church in Dover.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his three children, Julia Luginbuhl and husband, Ian of Perkasie, Les Nye and wife, Nicole of Bayside, NY and Thomas Nye of Wellsville; nine grandchildren; a great granddaughter; a brother, Robert Nye and wife, Patricia of Spring Grove; and his brother-in-law, Stephen Doman.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cynthia Doman.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Richard’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025 at St. David’s E.C. Church, 2411 Oakland Rd., Dover.  Burial will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York.  Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. N. Patrick Teaford.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
