Richard C. Sweitzer
DOVER - Richard Clarence Sweitzer, 91, entered into rest at 10:39 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025 at his home. He was the husband of the late Brenda (Myers) Sweitzer.
Born November 3, 1933 in York, Richard was a son of the late Maurice and Kathryn (Huzzard) Sweitzer.
He graduated from William Penn High School in 1951 and was a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1954 – 1958.
Richard retired in 2017 from York Tool Warehouse and previously was employed at AMF Harley-Davidson and various dealerships in the auto parts department.
He was an active member of Dover Assembly of God where he was a former church board member. He was also a member of Heritage Senior Center in Dover and Shiloh American Legion Post 791.
Richard is survived by a son, Randall Coleman and companion, Lisa Griffiths; three daughters, Sherry Sheely and husband, Ken of York, Kendra Knaub and husband, Gene of Dover and Kimberly Coleman of Dover; four grandchildren, Kaila Sheely, Lacey Shumaker, Kyle Coleman and wife, Bre and Alexis Leisenring; four great grandchildren, Ryland, Reid, Payton and Sawyer; and a sister, Kathleen Stover of Yorkanna. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tom Sweitzer; twin brother, Robert Sweitzer and brother, Maurice Sweitzer, Jr.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Richard’s funeral at 1 p.m. and the viewing from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Dover Assembly of God, 4790 Carlisle Road, Dover. Burial will be private in Dover Union Cemetery. Officiating will be his pastor the Rev. Jeff Bender. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
