Rickey L. Hollinger
DOVER – Rickey Lynn Hollinger, beloved husband, father and Pappy entered into eternal peace on Friday, February 26, 2021 at UPMC Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Wanda M. (Smith) Hollinger. The couple celebrated 30 years of marriage on July 23, 2020.
Born January 9, 1951 in Dover, he was a son of Hazel A. (Stanley) Hollinger Ewell of York and the late Gerald H. Hollinger.
Rickey served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He retired from Forry Transport in 2010 and previously hauled pool water for Kauffman’s. Rickey was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and the NRA. He enjoyed music, especially playing the guitar and other string instruments. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening and spending time with his grandkids. More than anything, Rickey enjoyed working on his orange blossom special.
In addition to his wife and mother, Rickey is survived by two daughters, Susan Bairstow of Hotto, TX and Amanda Hollinger of Abbottstown; two sons, Jamie Hollinger of Austin, TX and Brad Sheely of Etters; eight grandchildren, Hannah, Patrick, Hailee, Kylie, Brayden, Anna, Olivia and Faith Lynn; six siblings, Ronnie Hollinger, Jim Hollinger, Henry Hollinger, Robert Hollinger, Tottie Decker and Torie Hollinger, all of Dover. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald, a son, David Hollinger and a brother, Randy Hollinger.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Rickey’s graveside service at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 in Rohlers Mountain View Cemetery where veteran’s honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier, pastor of Grace U.C.C. in Hanover. Emig Funeral Home, Dover, is serving his family.
