Robert E. Border
WELLSVILLE – Robert E. Border, 80, entered into rest at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Alvena R. (Gottshall) Border. The couple celebrated 60 years of marriage on October 7, 2021.
Born February 13, 1942 in York, Robert was a son of the late Robert L. Border and Pauline K. Routson Border Sommers and a step-son of the late Thomas P. Sommers.
He retired in 2006 following 41 years of service for BAE Systems where he worked as a metal fabricator.
Robert enjoyed gardening, raising goats and cattle and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert E. Border, Jr., of Darlington; a daughter, Tammy Myers of Etters; four grandchildren, Nicole Baer, Shane Miller, Heather Wagoner and Christopher Border; three great grandsons, Anthony Thompson, Silas Thompson and Nolan Miller; two brothers, James L. Border of East Berlin and Joe C. Border, Sr. of Wellsville; and a sister, Nancy E. Garner of Waynesboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Faye P. Moody.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Robert’s funeral at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. The viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Lewisberry.
