Robert A. Chaney
MANCHESTER – Robert A. Chaney, 70, entered into rest at 8:10 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at his home. He was the loving husband of Kelly N. (Laughman) Chaney. The couple celebrated 30 years of marriage on November 21, 2022.
Born January 5, 1953 in York, Robert was a son of the late William H. and Florine (Housseal) Chaney.
He graduated from Northeastern High School and retired from Newark Paper Mill. Following retirement, he worked at Lowe’s in East York.
Robert enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley. He also enjoyed camping with his family and grandkids, who were the loves of his life.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by six children, Eric Romich and companion, Jennifer Kuska of Dallastown, Robert L. Chaney and wife, Jenna of York, Aaron R. Chaney and wife, Vianey of Philadelphia, Terra Fickes and companion, Robert Dawson of Wellsville, Tyler Barnhart and wife, Jill of York and Tyson Barnhart of Littlestown; son-in-law, Troy Fickes of East Berlin; nine grandchildren, Kyli Barnhart, with whom he shared a birthday, Aydan Fickes, Matthew Barnhart, Dakota Dawson, Colten Barnhart, Ivy Kitner, Roy Rohem, Delaney Barnhart and Stella Rose Chaney; a sister, Gloria Chaney of East Berlin; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret (Morgan) Chaney; four sisters, Alice Watanuki, Linda Chaney, Ruth Chaney and Frances Chaney; and three brothers, Philip Chaney, William Chaney, Jr. and George Chaney.
Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the service to celebrate Robert’s life at 11 a.m. and the visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St. Dover. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Officiating will be family friend, Daniel Hunter.
