Robert P. Shomo
DOVER - Robert P. Shomo, 75, entered into rest Monday, June 14, 2021 at his home. He was the loving husband of Dorothy (MacGregor) Shomo. The couple would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on June 15, 2021.
Born February 24, 1946 in Phillipsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank Shomo and Catherine (Soss) Shomo Lovell and step-son of the late Owen R. Lovell.
Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969 as an Army Specialist 5. He went on to earn a business degree from Gannon University in Erie, PA. He retired in 2005 from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry as a Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation in York, Pa.
Bob was a member of the Shiloh American Legion Post 791. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time at camp with his family and friends. Most of all, Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always put everyone else's needs above his own.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Robert is survived by two sons, Brian P. Shomo and wife, Carrie of Harrisburg, Pa., and Mark F. Shomo and wife, Erin of York, Pa.; four grandchildren, Hunter, Meghan, Madison and Jacob; two sisters, Marie O'Donnell and husband, James of Fallentimber, Pa., and Irene Hewitt, wife of the late Richard, of Carlisle, Pa; and step-sister, Susan Martin and husband, Blaine of Fallentimber, Pa., and step-brother Dr. Michael O. Lovell, of San Antonio, Tx.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, Francis Shomo, Jr.
Following cremation, services will be private at the convenience of the family.
