Rodney W. Kern
DOVER – Rodney W. Kern, 72, entered into rest on Monday, April 27, 2020 at his home. He was the loving husband of Alicia “Leigh” A. (Gaines) Kern. The couple celebrated 41 years of marriage on July 21, 2019.
Born March 12, 1948 in York, Rodney was a son of the late Robert and Janet (Bredbenner) Kern.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Rodney retired from Harley Davidson following 32 years of service.
He was a true Renaissance man and craftsman who would go out of his way to help anyone in need. Rodney had a great sense of humor - he loved a good joke and loved to laugh. He was a good man who loved people and life in general. He was also a hot rod and antique car enthusiast.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, US Air Force Col. Sean C. Kern and wife, Angie, stationed in San Antonio, TX; a daughter, Megan M. Kern and fiancé, Fred Krappe of Dover; two granddaughters, Amber Kern and Caitlin Kern; a great granddaughter, Aubreigh; four brothers, Cliff, Joel, Mark and Tom; and a sister, Tina. Rodney was also known as “cat man” and is survived by three beloved cats, Moosh, Skiddles and Molly.
Following cremation, services will be at the convenience of the family. Emig Funeral Home is serving his family.
