Roman B. Strausbaugh
DOVER – Roman B. “Jack” Strausbaugh, 96, entered into rest at 6:07 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Oelschlager) Strausbaugh.
Born September 10, 1929 in Codorus Township, Roman was a son of the late Roman W. and Edna (Kessler) Strausbaugh.
Jack graduated from Codorus Township High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Millersville University. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Strausbaugh taught English and Literature at Northeastern High School from 1968 to 1991. He had also been employed by York International.
Jack was an active member of Dover U.C.C. where he sang in the choir. He also sang with Jefferson Connection. More recently, he was active at Cross Keys Village Faith Community where he was a deacon. Jack was an avid bicyclist who rode 20 miles a day, and later in life, 10 miles a day up to the age of 90.
Roman is survived by two sons, Brian Strausbaugh and wife, Eunice of Dover and Eric Strausbaugh and wife, Cindy of Allentown; two daughters, Lauren Strausbaugh and husband, Don Griffin of York and Anita Hartman and husband, Charles, Jr. of Spring Grove; ten grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Strausbaugh of Spring Grove. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Carl Strausbaugh and sister, Kay Rihn.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jack’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Dover U.C.C., 45 W. Canal St., Dover. Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery, Dover. Officiating will be Pastor Cam Richesson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
