Rudolph E. Keister
YORK – Rudolph E. “Ed” Keister, 90, entered into rest at 6:37 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Shirley K. (Peterman) Green Keister.
Born May 7, 1931 in Conewago Township, Ed was a son of the late Rudolph M. Keister and Charlotte R. (Shaffner) Miller. He was a step-son of the late Eugene Miller.
Ed was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 3 rd infantry division during the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient.
Ed retired in 1993 following 30 years of service for Teledyne McKay Chain where he was a forklift operator. He previously worked for American Wire Fabrics Corporation in Mount Wolf.
Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, telling war stories, and playing guitar. He was a Baltimore Orioles Fan. Ed also enjoyed taxidermy in his younger years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Dennis E. Keister of Dover and Jean D. Green of York; two step-children, Charles D. Green of York and Michelle I. Shenberger of Dover; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George H. Keister and Earl Keister; and a sister, Florence Yinger.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ed’s graveside service at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 in Suburban Memorial Gardens, Dover, where veteran’s honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier, pastor of Grace UCC in Hanover.
