Ruth T. Harris

DOVER – Ruth T. Harris, 92, entered into rest at 10:58 a.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at her home.  She was the loving wife of James C. Harris.  The couple celebrated 30 years of marriage on June 15, 2020.

Born November 2, 1927 in Harrisonburg, VA, she was a daughter of the late Otis and Lillian (Bauserman) Tutwiler.

Ruth was a homemaker who had also worked as a mail order clerk for Sears.

She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge.  In her younger years, she enjoyed water skiing.

In addition to her husband, Ruth is survived by two daughters, Susan Whorl and husband, Timothy of Dover and Jean Stauffer and husband, Roger of East Berlin; a son, Jeffrey Painter and wife, Karen of Etters; daughter-in-law, Sabine Painter of Boulder, CO; step-sons, Steve, Stan and Scott Harris; eight grandchildren, Tommy Frederico, Denise Sheaffer, Kevin Painter, Tyson Painter, Ian Stauffer, Sid Stauffer, JT Painter and Ben Painter; five great grandchildren, Laynie Sheaffer, Matthew Sheaffer, Fia Frederico, London Painter, Thomas Stauffer; three step-grandchildren;  three step-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Marie Chaplin and Lavan Linhoss, both of Bridgewater, VA.  She was preceded in death by a son, Sydney Painter, her first husband, Tribbett Hall Painter, Jr, and a sister, Edith Kincheloe.

Services will be scheduled at a later date.  Emig Funeral Home, Dover is serving her family.
