Sandra Mae (Bowers) Motter
DOVER – Sandra Mae (Bowers) Motter died January 21, 2025. She was born May 16, 1948 at York Hospital. the daughter of Charles Franklin Bowers, Sr. and Edna L. (Eichelberger) Bowers. She was born, raised and educated in York City and graduated from William Penn Senior High School (York High) in 1966.
On July 26, 1969 she married Clifford Jay Motter and they shared 55 years of marriage together. They had two children together, a daughter, Michelle Kay Motter (Dave Blankenship) of Camp Hill and a son, Michael Jay Motter (Valerie S.) of Dillsburg. They enjoyed family trips to Ocean City, MD, Disney World, and Baltimore Oriole baseball games. For many years, Sandy and Cliff enjoyed hosting family reunions, holiday dinners, family picnics and birthday gatherings. In 1981 she returned to work at the Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council in York, retiring in 2007 as Executive Assistant. Following retirement, she worked 3 years at The Brethren Home at Cross Keys in the Foundation Department and then assisted her husband as sexton at Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church in Etters, PA until their retirement in 2017. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Codorus, PA for over 50 years. She was a life member of Girl Scouts of America.
She is survived by her husband, children, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, grandparents, parents-in-law, her sister Donna L. Altland and brother and sister-in-law Charles F., Jr. and Mary Bowers.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. The viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Jean Ward. Burial will be private in Mount Rose Cemetery.
