Sheila V. Updike
DOVER – Sheila V. Updike, 80, entered into rest on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at The Gardens at Camp Hill. She was the companion of Glenn Markel of Dover.
Born April 25, 1942 in York, Sheila was the daughter of the late Morgan and Mildred (Deardorff) Seifert. She graduated from Dover High School.
Sheila was a homemaker and member of Mt. Olivet Church of God in Dover and the M.S. Society. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards and dancing. Sheila will be remembered for her giving nature, never expecting anything in return.
In addition to her companion, she is survived by her three sons, Robert W. Updike and wife, Katrina, Douglas R. Updike and wife, Nancy and Wade A. Updike and companion, Mandy, all of Dover; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two brothers, Colin “Jack” Seifert of New Oxford and Owen “Bud” Seifert of Wellsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Smith; and two brothers, James Seifert and Morgan “Pep” Seifert, Jr.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Sheila’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Dover Union Cemetery. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Darrell Schrade.
