Shirley L. Crone

DOVER – Shirley L. Crone, 87, entered into rest at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at her home.  She was the wife of the late Wayne L. Crone.

Born April 17, 1938 in Dover, Shirley was the daughter of the late Wilson and Ruthanna (Reiver) Thompson.

She graduated from Dover High School in 1955 and worked as a cook for Nellies Restaurant in Dover for 51 years.

Shirley was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Dover where she was part of the fellowship committee and had a regular place in the church kitchen. She faithfully helped with the annual pork and sauerkraut dinner at the church.  Shirley was also a lifetime member of the Dover High School Alumni Association.  She enjoyed walking in Lehr Park every morning with her husband, Wayne.

She is survived by her son, Kevin W. Crone of Dover and brother, Raymond Thompson of Dover.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Shirley’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 9 N. Main St., Dover.  Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery, Dover.  Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Abigail Leese.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
