Spurgeon E. Hake
DOVER – Spurgeon E. Hake, 81, entered into rest at 3:38 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at UPMC York Memorial. He was the loving husband of Sharon M. (Aughenbaugh) Hake. The couple celebrated 54 years of marriage on June 27, 2024.
Born August 4, 1943 in Manchester Township, Spurgeon was a son of the late Spurgeon L. and Beatrice E. (Bupp) Hake.
He retired from IBEW Local 229 where he was a union electrician. Spurgeon was very instrumental in the creation of Local 229 IBEW Credit Union and held the title of President. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his union brothers at the retiree gatherings.
Spurgeon enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was hunting at the family hunting camp in Clinton County, fishing or with his grandchildren. He also loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Spurgeon is survived by his children, Scott A. Hake of York, Christine E. Hake and significant other, Paul Langis of Stewartstown and Kevin M. Hake and wife, Marsha of Dover; five grandchildren, Gavin and Dawson Hake, Kirstyn Swancer, Ethan and Ava Langis. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce M. Moffitt; and three brothers, Carroll E., Dale L. and Glenn E. Hake.
Following cremation, a celebration of life for Spurgeon will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc. in Dover.
