Theda Bentzel Obituary

Theda R. Bentzel

DOVER - Theda, 80, passed away July 18, 2024 at the WellSpan York Hospital after a brief, but severe illness. She was born August 23, 1943 in Zions View, PA. She was the daughter of the late William and Mildred (Hughes) Crone. She attended the Empire Beauty School and worked briefly as a beautician. Followed by employment at the Bendix Corporation and eventually retiring from Osram-Sylvania after 37 years. She enjoyed her infamous mugs of black coffee and sweets of any kind all day long, retirement life, watching The Voice and HGTV, travelling with a favorite destination of Ocean City, MD, the pool, numerous pets, being outdoors and was devoted to keeping a large yard impeccably groomed. In later years, she enjoyed keeping the bird feeder and bird bath filled daily, watching the birds, while trying to keep the squirrels away. She was the most kind, giving and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and loyal friend to all that knew her. She spent selfless, tireless and endless hours taking care of her family that she loved dearly, always lending a hand in whatever difficult projects were involved. She cheerfully volunteered her (and John’s) support no matter the task at hand or whether he was in favor of it or not. She will be sorely missed by her family. Although, we are sure God gained an angel in heaven. She attended Dover Assembly of God Church for over 60 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carole Reece Brown and brother Burnell Crone. She is survived by her loving husband John of 63 years, daughter Lorrey (husband Dick), son Patrick (wife Nicki), brother Larry Crone, sister in-laws Betty Hughes and Donna Crone, many cousins, nieces, nephews, close family relatives and faithful companion Labrador, Hunter.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside service to be held at the Emanuel Cemetery in Lewisberry, PA on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with her Pastor, Rev. Jeffrey F. Bender, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover, PA.
