YORK – Thomas Edward Luchka, age 70, died of Lewy Body Dementia on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at his home in York, PA

Tom is survived by his wife, Sue of 41 years; his son, Travis of York, PA; his daughter, Heather of York, PA; two sisters; and four brothers.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Virginia Luchka of Port St. Lucie, FL.

Tom was born on April 18, 1953 in Willowick, OH, to his parents Theodore and Virginia Luchka.  He graduated from East Lake North High School in the Cleveland area.  He joined the USAF and upon discharge became a Firefighter/Paramedic/Fire Inspector in Delaware, Ohio.  He moved to Port St. Lucia, FL, following a career ending injury while on the job and later moved to York, PA when his wife had a work opportunity.

Tom was a great family man and a loving father.  He married Susan (Sue) in 1981 and the couple had two children together, AND multiple “furry children” throughout the years.

Tom was a social, active man who was deeply involved in Treasure Coast Opera Society while living in Florida and Calvary & Mount Zion Lutheran Churches in York, even setting up the Richard A. Sultner Music Scholarship (concerts) Program which he organized and performed at for the majority of his life.  He enjoyed music, gardening, traveling, and his dogs (furry children).  He was also a sports fan, most especially, a die-hard Cleveland sports teams fan.  Tom’s family and friends will always remember him as a laughing, smiling, caring person who would do anything he could for others.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 9 N. Main Street, Dover with a visitation to follow.  Veteran's honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Reverend Abby Leese will officiate.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom’s Life.
