Troy M. Dettinger
DOVER – Troy M. Dettinger, 55, entered into rest unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
Born May 20, 1967 in York, he was a son of Sandra L. (Campbell) Smith of Red Lion and the late Larry G. Dettinger. He attended Red Lion High School.
Troy was the beloved fire chief of Union Fire & Hose Co. #1 in Dover and had volunteered with the station since 1993. He was also a part-time driver for West York Fire Company. Troy worked for The Fire Store in Abbottstown, as well.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, fishing and hunting.
In addition to his mother, Troy is survived by his daughter, Kelsey J. Dettinger of Dover; two granddaughters, Brynlee Dettinger and Isabella Keefer; brother, Matthew W. Dettinger and wife, Wendy of Red Lion; maternal grandfather, Clarence “Pete” Campbell of Red Lion; and companion, Michelle Flinchbaugh of York. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Savannah M. Dettinger.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Troy’s viewing from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Following cremation there will be a celebration of life service at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Union Fire & Hose Company, 30 E. Canal St., Dover.
