Velma R. Craun
YORK – Velma R. Craun, 101, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. A resident of Country Meadows, Shiloh, PA she was the eldest daughter of Van B. and Viola (Dove) Caplinger. Her sisters, Della Dehoff and Beulah Beitzel and brothers, Stanley and Robert Caplinger preceded her in death.
Born in Rockville, MD, on October 29, 1921, she was a longtime member of Harmony Grove Church.
Her husband of 61 years, Stephen Craun, Jr. preceded her in death in 2000. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Joyce Caplinger of Towanda, PA. She is also survived by five children, Robert Craun and wife, Eva and Joyce Deisinger, wife of the late Stanley, all of York, Nancy Border and husband, Ken of Dover, Joan Lighty, wife of the late Larry, of Kannapolis, North Carolina and Stephen Craun and wife, Barbara of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Velma also leaves 10 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Velma enjoyed working in electronics manufacturing for more than 10 years. After retirement, she traveled extensively through the United States, Canada and Alaska. She will be missed by family and friends.
Services will be handled by Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover at the convenience of the family.
