Warren E. Miller
DOVER - Warren Edward Miller passed away on Tuesday, November 16 at UPMC Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. Born on June 26, 1930 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of Warren H. and Anna (Toomey) Miller.
Warren graduated from Dover High School in 1948 where he was known as “Specks.” As a teenager, he participated in almost every sport and activity and he earned the Eagle Scout Award. He married Lois Jean Rauch in 1951 and, after a brief career as a farmer followed by a partnership in the The Locust Inn in Hampton, PA, he found his calling as a sales agent for Prudential. He loved people and he always had a joke or story to share. He retired from Prudential in 1985. He enjoyed summers on his boat fishing for flounder in OC, MD where he also hosted and made many friends. After the death of Lois he moved to Zephyrhills, FL in 2002, where he was the companion of Kathy Swanson. During that time he developed a strong faith in Jesus Christ and would share that with all who would listen. In 2018 he moved back to Dover and resided at Providence Place where he actively participated in every exercise class, and enjoyed playing Rummikub every night. During these last three years his family was blessed to reconnect with the unconditional love of our beloved Dad, Grandpa and Papa Miller.
Warren is survived a daughter, Christy Chiaro (Michael) of York, a son, Gregory Miller of York, two grandchildren, Ben Chiaro (Carla) of York, Maggie Chiaro (Matt) of Oceanside, CA, and three great-granddaughters: Enza, Gia, and Izzy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lois.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover, PA. There will be a visitation at 2 p.m. followed by the service at 3 p.m.
